Există multe vedete de la Hollywood care practică postul intermitent, precum Jennifer Aniston și Halle Berry. Dar ce este postul intermitent? Este o strategie alimentară în care o perioadă de alimentație este alternată intenționat cu o perioadă de post. - Toate posturile intermitente sunt la fel. Fals. Există diferite tipuri de planuri de post intermitent. Formele de post nu sunt toate la fel, parțial pentru că unele sunt mai ușor de urmat decât altele, dar și pentru că anumite faze se adaptează mai bine ritmului circadian natural al corpului nostru, scăzând astfel nivelul de insulină, crescând hormonii care ard grăsimile și scăzând pofta de mâncare. - Postul intermitent încetinește metabolismul. Fals. Dimpotrivă, postul, atunci când este practicat pe intervale scurte de timp, precum 16:8, s-a dovedit că accelerează metabolismul și îi îmbunătățește adaptabilitatea. Dacă organismul nu primește mâncare, evident nu poate reduce metabolismul la zero. Trebuie să ardă calorii pentru a supraviețui. - Ar trebui să limitezi și consumul de apă. Nu, este fals. Restricționarea apei nu este o idee bună, dimpotrivă, trebuie să consumi cât simți nevoia.
- Provoacă o scădere periculoasă a glicemiei. Corpul nostru are multe mecanisme de monitorizare a nivelului de zahăr din sânge. În timpul postului intermitent, ia glicogen din ficat și îl transformă în glucoză pentru a fi pusă în circulație. Ce se întâmplă când rezervele de glicogen se epuizează? Corpul ia glicerol din grăsimi, apoi, în ficat, prin procesul numit „gluconeogeneză”, transformă glicerolul în glucoză și o eliberează în sânge.
